Think Outside The Nissan Cube.

no comment Posted by

When it comes to buying a used Nissian Jacksonville FL Altima or even a used Nissan Jacksonville Florida Frontier, I’ll take the used Nissan Jacksonville Cube. 30 years into Nissan Cube’s existence, and it has finally reached the USA, Honda’s Element, Scion’s xB, and Kia’s Soul got here with first dibs on the market. The Cubes chassis is a smaller Versa platform a Versa cubed and all four versions of the Cube manufactured by Nissan are front wheeldrive only, and equipped with a 122-hp, 1.8-liter four.

The Scion xB on the other hand is furnished with a considerable larger engine being the 2.4 Liter 4 cylinder that creates 158 hp. with a automatic transmission, and exactly like the Nissan Cube is also a front wheel drive Japanese produced vehicle. Professionals tend to compare the 2010 Nissan Cube to the Scion xB or Kia Soul, but the actuality is that nothing looks the same as the cube’s well rounded-box looks of the new Nissan Cube. For Nissan, 2010 marks two years that the Nissan Cube has been presented in the USA, even though first three generations were selling on foreign ground for quite some time. Most evident on the interior of the amazing Cube is a ripple effect that can be seen in the whole interior of the Cube and puts a peaceful awareness through anyone who gets planted inside this nightclub surroundings.

The Nissan Cube comes loaded with a perfect selection of standard safety features, including antilock brakes with brake assist and traction-control and non-skid systems. Typical seat mounted side and front airbags, and full-length head-protecting curtain airbags keeping all passengers safe. There’s a chance Cube may sooner or later offer Nissan’s “e-AWD. This employs a compact electric motor to automatically power the rear wheels as needed to make up for any slip of the front wheels. Nissan has also talked about a fully electric car based on the Cube, though it won’t be offered for retail sale until 2012 in the USA.

Ten Best Harrison Ford Movies

no comment Posted by

Harrison Ford, Hollywood superstar

Harrison Ford was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1942. Ford made his motion picture debut in Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (1966), playing a bit role as a bellhop. His dramatic television debut came one year later in an episode of The Virginian titled “The Modoc Kid” (February 1, 1967), where he appeared in the small role of Cullen Tindall.

Here are ten movies that no dedicated Harrison Ford fan should ever miss. All aboard Air Force One for a thrilling ride into the cinematic wild blue – with Harrison Ford at the controls…

Witness (Paramount, 1985)

Harrison Ford plays Captain John Book, a Philadelphia homicide detective who investigates the murder of an undercover policeman in a restroom at the 30th Street train station. The only witness to the killing is a young Amish boy, Samuel Lapp (Lukas Haas), who was hiding in a nearby stall. Book’s investigation leads him to police corruption and the murderous Lt. James McFee (Danny Glover) and his confederates. Forced to flee the city, Book hides out in Pennsylvania’s Amish country where he falls in love with Rachel Lapp (Kelly McGillis), a young Amish widow and the mother of Samuel. Complimenting Ford’s bravura performance are Josef Summer, Jan Rubes, Alexander Godunov, Brent Jennings and Patti LuPone in one of Hollywood’s all-time cop thrillers.

Academy Award nomination for Best Actor
Great Ford line (to his corrupt cop pursuers, who have him cornered on an Amish farm): “Oh no, man, you got it wrong. I’m coming to get you!”
Director: Peter Weir
On DVD: Witness Special Collector’s Edition (Paramount, 2005)

Witness (1985) Croatian poster with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Paramount, 1981)

Harrison Ford plays Indiana Jones, an adventurer-archaeologist in pursuit of the Lost Ark of the Covenant in the year 1936. Jones braves Peruvian jungles, dodges venomous snakes and tangles with cunning Nazis and evil Arabs in his quest for the sacred lost Ark. Outfitted in his trademark fedora and worn bomber jacket, Ford cuts a dashing figure as the globetrotting, swashbuckling Indiana Jones, with Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey and John Rhys-Davies in magnificent support.

Great Ford line (handing a torch to Karen Allen while surrounded by poisonous snakes): “Wave it at anything that slithers.”
Director: George Lucas
On DVD: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Special Collector’s Edition (Paramount, 2008)

The Fugitive (Warner Bros., 1993)

Harrison Ford plays Dr. Richard Kimble, a brilliant Chicago surgeon wrongly convicted of murdering his wife. While en route to the big house’s death row, a train slams into the prison bus transporting Kimble and his fellow convicts. Now on the loose, the good doctor returns to the Windy City where he feverishly tries to locate the mysterious one-armed man he had fought with on the night of his wife’s murder. Ford is outstanding in the old David Janssen television role, with Tommy Lee Jones as Deputy U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard providing the perfect foil.

Great Ford line: “I didn’t kill my wife!”
Director: Andrew Davis
On DVD: The Fugitive Special Edition (Warner, 2001)

Clear and Present Danger (Paramount, 1994)

Harrison Ford plays CIA analyst Jack Ryan, who becomes intimately involved in the ongoing war on drugs. Ryan’s duties take him to South America, where he engages in a deadly battle with one of Columbia’s most violent drug cartels. Illegal covert operations, backdoor political maneuvers and government corruption make Ryan’s latest assignment a living hell. Harrison Ford has never looked better as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, particularly in the harrowing ambush scene where Ryan’s small convoy is attacked by Columbian thugs wielding automatic weapons and rocket propelled grenade launchers. Willem Dafoe, Anne Archer and James Earl Jones ably complement Ford’s performance.

Great Ford line (on his urgent need of a helicopter in Columbia): “I’m here to rent the Huey.”
Director: Phillip Noyce
On DVD: Clear and Present Danger Special Collector’s Edition (Paramount, 2003)

Clear and Present Danger (1994) advance one sheet poster with Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan

Presumed Innocent (Warner Bros., 1990)

Harrison Ford plays Rozat “Rusty” Sabich, a deputy prosecutor whose extramarital affair with fellow lawyer Carolyn Polhemus (Greta Scacchi) turns lethal when the latter is found murdered. Now accused of Carolyn’s murder, Rusty goes on trial for his life with Alejandro “Sandy” Stern (Raul Julia) acting as his defense counsel. Presumed Innocent is a gritty, intricate legal thriller with Ford, Julia, Brian Dennehy, Bonnie Bedelia and Paul Winfield all delivering standout performances. The movie’s suprise ending will not disappoint.

Great Ford line (to wife Bonnie Bedelia): “I’m going to need a lawyer, a very, very good lawyer, an expensive lawyer. It could break us.”
Director: Alan J. Pakula
On DVD: Presumed Innocent (Warner, 1997)

Blade Runner (Warner Bros., 1982)

Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, a futuristic ex-cop whose job is to hunt down and “retire” genetically engineered humanoids in 2019 Los Angeles. Deckard’s latest assignment involves a quartet of human replicants now roaming the city. He finds one of them, Zhora (Joanna Cassidy), working at a sleazy strip club, where he terminates her act permanently. Ford is brilliant as the burned-out, 21st century police assassin in what many believe to be one of the greatest science fiction movies ever made. Add the talents of Cassidy, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos and Daryl Hannah, and Blade Runner easily becomes one of Harrison Ford’s most memorable films.

Great Ford line: “They don’t advertise for killers in the newspaper. That was my profession. Ex-cop. Ex-blade runner. Ex-killer.”
Director: Ridley Scott
On DVD: Blade Runner – The Final Cut Two-Disc Special Edition (Warner, 2007)

Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard in Blade Runner (1982)

Frantic (Warner Bros., 1988)

Harrison Ford plays Dr. Richard Walker, an American physician whose wife, Sondra Walker (Betty Buckley), mysteriously disappears from their Paris hotel room. Dr. Walker frantically conducts his own search for his missing wife, landing him in a hotbed of foreign intrigue populated by organized crime figures, government agents, illegal drugs and murder. Emmanuelle Seigner plays the role of Michelle, the young Frenchwoman who aids Dr. Walker. Frantic is an interesting picture reminiscent of the Alfred Hitchcock school of filmmaking, with Ford more than capable of living up to the film’s title.

Great Ford line (to an American security official after explaining his problem): “You understand but you don’t give a damn? Is that it?”
Director: Roman Polanski
On DVD: Frantic (Warner, 2004)

Star Wars (Twentieth Century-Fox, 1977)

Harrison Ford plays Han Solo, a swashbuckling space pilot and rogue adventurer who aids Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in his battle with the evil Empire. This is the picture that started the entire Star Wars series, one of the most successful movie franchises in Hollywood history. It also provided a huge lift to Ford’s then struggling film career, with the actor gaining notoriety as the popular, dashing Han Solo.

Great Ford line (to Mark Hamill): “Hey, Luke. May the force be with you.”
Director: George Lucas
On DVD: Star Wars Trilogy (Fox, 2008)

Sabrina (Paramount, 1995)

Harrison Ford plays Linus Larrabee, a wealthy scion who schemes to save a corporate merger as well as his brother’s upcoming marriage by romancing young interloper Sabrina Fairchild (Julia Ormond). The plan works, but complications ensue, with the roguish Linus unintentionally falling in love with his quarry. A remake of the 1954 romantic comedy of the same title starring William Holden, Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, 1995′s Sabrina lives up to the original, with Ford, Ormond and Greg Kinnear all delivering superb performances.

Great Ford line: “And I want tickets to whatever Broadway show nobody can get tickets to.”
Director: Sydney Pollack
On DVD: Sabrina (Paramount, 2002)

American Graffiti (Universal, 1973)

Harrison Ford plays Bob Falfa, a cowboy-hat wearing hot rodder cruising the fun streets of 1962 California in his boss, midnight black 1955 Chevy. Ford’s role is small but memorable, as he searches for Big John Milner (Paul Le Mat), hoping to challenge him for the unofficial title of fastest car in the Valley. Falfa and Milner eventually meet at dawn on Paradise Road amidst burning rubber, smoking engines and steely-eyed stares.

Great Ford line (to Paul Le Mat, who drives a yellow 1932 Ford deuce coup): “I like the color of your car there, man. What’s that s’posed to be? Sort of a cross between piss yella’ and puke green ain’t it?”
Director: George Lucas
On DVD: American Graffiti Collector’s Edition (Universal, 1998)

The Ford Ka is a city car from the Ford Motor Company marketed in Europe and elsewhere which was introduced in 1996 as a small and low-cost addition to the Ford range. The Ford Ka was manufactured on the existing Fiesta production line minimising the new model investment costs for Ford.

Besides the fresh styling, the suspension and steering settings were adjusted to allow a spirited cornering and high levels of grip, making it one of the best handling small cars. The ford ka was produced as a single model with a number of production features as an option, including:

Air Conditioning
Power Steering
Height-Adjustable Driver’s seat
Adjustable Position Rear Seat
Passenger Airbag
Central Locking
Power Windows
Anti-Lock Braking System

In the United Kingdom, the Ford Ka has been the bestselling car in its class for a number of years and commands around a fifth of the city car market.

A further line-up gave the Ford Ka new trim levels in the United Kingdom which included Studio, Style, Style Climate and Zetec Climate and SportKa was also added to the range.

With the car’s impending replacement, in 2008 a Finale special edition with distinguishing features was made available.

A Ford KA rally championship was created in 1998, which proved to be one of the most popular junior rally championships (Ford Ka Rally Cup) in Britain. Luke Pinder won the BRC Silverstone Tyre 1400 Championship in a Chris Birkbeck Ford KA in 2007.

Nissan to Mass Produce Zero Emission Electric Cars by 2012

no comment Posted by

Nissan has just announced that it will start mass producing zero emission electric cars at its Tennessee plant by 2012. The plant will produce 100,000 affordable electric cars per year.
A good number of vehicle manufacturers worldwide have started producing electric cars as an alternative to conventional vehicles that use gasoline or diesel fuel. But the switch from gas to electric has not been quite successful in terms of usage and acceptability by consumers. The reason is they are not affordable.

Nissan has announced Tuesday that it will mass produce affordable zero-emission electric cars in its new retooled plant in Tennessee by 2012. The plant will produce 100,000 electric vehicles a year.

Nissan is set to unveil its first electric vehicle in Japan on August 2, 2009 and begin commercial sales next year. In 2012, Nissan will mass produce them in its Tennessee plant and sell them at affordable price. The company however did not say how affordable the price will be. But Calos Ghosn, Nissan CEO said that ‘if it’s not affordable it’s not going to work’.

“We are not going to come with a very high price. We are going to come with a reasonable price,” he said. “We are here to mass market them.”

Mnsbc.com reports:

Earlier in the month, Nissan’s smaller rival, Mitsubishi Motors Corp., launched its electric vehicle, the i-MiEV, with a price tag of 4.59 million yen (,300). Even the company acknowledged the i-MiEV is too pricey and said it aims to cut the price in the future.

Nissan has just received a loan of .1 billion from the US to retool the plant and mass produce the zero emission electric vehicles.

Nissan Juke

Crossovers by definition are vehicles built on a car’s platform but possess features of a traditional sport utility vehicle, SUV.  Crossovers are becoming increasingly popular with many different car manufacturers trying to inject their own versions into the market.  With so many different models available to date, the consumer is spoilt for choice. This article will help to narrow the gap between the best and the worst of this new breed of vehicle platform.

5. Hyundai Veracruz

The Hyundai Veracruz is the largest vehicle Hyundai that has ever been sold in North America. The cross over come SUV is a well-built vehicle, where cost is proportional to the build.  Hyundai drew inspiration from Lexus when developing the Veracruz, rather than replicating similarities of other crossover manufacturers. The Veracruz boasts a luxurious interior, a 3.8-litre V6 and an all-wheel drive experience.

Although the Veracruz does not particularly exceed Lexus’s prestigious car design, the similarities are uncanning.  Hyundai’s crossover is a valuable contribution to the crossover competition.

4. Volkswagen Tiguan

The Tiguan is a small and agile approach to building a cross over. Although its appearance should not fool a potential buyer, as its 1.4 litre supercharged engine packs up to 150bhp. Shifting the Tiguan is no problem at all, especially as its engine is exceptionally responsive. The finely tuned balanced chassis allows the Tiguan to drive well around corners, as well as the straights it may encounter.  The overall exterior beauty of the Tiguan is smart but classy; the main feature of this crossover is its spacious interior, despite its insignificant outer appearance.  Although this may be a lot more expensive than many of its Japanese competitors, Volkswagen have done a remarkable job on developing such a nimble and tough crossover.

3.

Acura RDX

Acura has done a commendable job with their MDX utility. Although the price tag may be a bit too steep for some, the smart all-wheel drive system makes the 2010 Acura RDX one of the sportiest small crossovers to date.  Its super charged engine however seems to leave the driver feeling slightly short of the extra power needed to shift the RDX. Up to 70% of the power from the engine is directed to the rear wheels under hard acceleration. The optional extras, such as the satellite navigation system and the ELS audio system are nice additions which help justify the cost of the RDX.

2. Mazda CX-7

Mazda’s had cleverly designed a cross over which many would mistake to be a larger hot hatch.  By nature crossovers tend to be less tip happy than high profile SUVs. The Mazda CX-7  is a single model with no trim levels or engine choices.  The fuel efficient, turbo-charged diesel engine is perfectly suited for the CX-7′s lightweight chassis.  The CX-7 offers buyers a good-looking, well-specified alternative to a the more obvious competition in the crossover class. Dynamically the Mazda is among the best, however it’s a great shame that it’s taken Mazda so long to realise the CX-7′s potential.

Nissan Juke

Design in the UK at the Nissans Paddington Design Centre, the juke utilizes SUV styling proportions to create a car that’s considerably wider and longer than a micro and only marginally taller. The sport coupé looking Juke has exaggerated bumpers, 370Z inspired tail lamps and huge circular spotlights at the front. The audacious exterior theme carries over inside, with a slick audio system and a striking centre console, the juke’s aesthetic value is defiantly on to attract many consumers.  Driving a Nissan Juke in west London would definitely raise a few eyebrows. Nissan has always been a key contributor to the SUV market; there experience and design efforts here are clearly apparent within the Juke.

Top 10: Most Beautiful Cars In The World

no comment Posted by

Over the last 100 years, car manufacturers have designed some amazing cars, both beautiful and hideous. It’s hard to agree on a list of the most beautiful cars ever produced because inevitably personal taste comes into it.

However, the guys and girls over at Classic and Sports Car Magazine have recently carried out a survey to draw up a conclusive top 10 most beautiful cars. A 20 strong group of industry giants submitted 3 of their favourite, before narrowing it down to just 10.These included:

Peter Stevens (McLaren F1), Giorgetto Giugiaro (VW Golf, Lotus Esprit), Ian Callum (Jaguar), Marcello Gandini (Lancia Stratos, Lamborghini Countach), Patrick Le Quement (Renault), Martin Smith (Ford)

1962 Lotus Elite = 4th

1962 Lotus Elite = 4th

1962 Lotus Elite = 4th

The beautiful and small Elite was the result of Colin Chapman’s (founder of Lotus) obsession with low weights of cars. Not only was the body constructed from fiberglass, but so was the chassis in a similar method to modern day carbon fibre hypercars.

There were problems, fibreglass not being as strong as carbon fibre, quiet a few were horribly damaged. Yet the small 75bhp engine, low weight and efficient aerodynamics made this a great little car and is joint 4th in the top 10.

1972 Lotus Elan = 4th

1972 Lotus Elan = 4th

1972 Lotus Elan = 4th

The Elan followed on from the (above) Elite, again it was made from fibreglass, yet this time had a steel backbone to add strength and rigidity. Annoying some purist designers saying it wasn’t in the Elite style. Yet the Elan was far more popular and safer.

The minimalist design, sweeping curves and ‘before it’s time’ pop up head lights make this a stunning little British sports car. 20 years later Mazda based their MX5 on the Elan, which has since gone on to be one of the most popular sports cars.

1968 Lamborghini Miura = 4th

1968 Lamborghini Miura = 4th

1968 Lamborghini Miura = 4th

A simply stunning car. It was British motoring journalist LJK Setright that referred to this car as a ”supercar” which is where it all started. This is the FIRST supercar! Marcello Gandini who was on the judging panel for this list was also the chief designer of the Muira.

Designed by Lamborghini to prove a point to Ferrari who at the time said all sports cars should be front engined-rear wheel drive, the Muira was a mid engined V12 monster. According to many, non have come close to replicating this car’s striking lines.

1971 Jaguar E-Type = 4th

1971 Jaguar E-Type = 4th

1971 Jaguar E-Type = 4th

For such a fast and powerful car, the Jaguar E Type is seen as many as a feminine design, with its sleek lines and beautiful stance. Some even refer to it as feline.

Styled around the aerodynamic of the D Type racers of the time, the E Type was a road friendly race car. It was technologically advanced for its time, yet the classic lines have remained as beautiful as ever.

1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB = 4th

1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB = 4th

1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB = 4th

When you think of beautiful cars, you can’t forget the Ferrari’s! This is the first of 3, and one of 2 from the 250 model. The GT SWB (Short Wheel Base) was described by Jaguar’s Ian Cullen as “a blend of beauty and aggression. I just drool over them and can draw them with my eyes closed.”(obviously a fan)

Ferrari only ever made 165 of the GT SWB, and as a result the price is huge! Perfect examples will sell for upwards of mil when they come up for auction, which is not that often. The California Spyder version of the GT SWB became the most expensive car ever in May 2008 when it sold for a whopping .9 million to British Radio DJ Chris Evans.

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso = 4th

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso = 4th

1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso = 4th

The Lusso was the final version of the 250 model. It kept some of the aggressive racing lines of the SWB racer (above) yet some of the lines were smoothed out to give a more relaxing look. It was more of a Grand Tourer car, so was less aggressive in the driving too.

Pininfarina helped design this car leaving in the racing pedigree of Ferrari, yet the softer lines added some character to this stunning car. The Lusso pictured above was once owned by car nut Steve McQueen before his death.

1937 Cord 810/812 = 4th

1937 Cord 810/812 = 4th

1937 Cord 810/812 = 4th

The less well known Cord 810/812 series from the 1930′s. It was way ahead of it’s time with it’s futuristic lines, Miura designer Marcello Gandini saying “it was an impressive design for the 1930s with solutions that would be seen on cars 20 years later.”

Using a V8 in front wheel drive was unheard of in the 30′s, as well as hand cranked pop up head lights and a retractable roof. Sadly only 3000 of the 810 and supercharged 812′s were ever produced.

1967 Ferrari 275GTB/4 Berlinetta = 2nd

1967 Ferrari 275GTB/4 Berlinetta = 2nd

1967 Ferrari 275GTB/4 Berlinetta = 2nd

Like the 250 GT Lusso, the 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta was a Grand Tourer. Designed to be comfy over long distances, but with serious power and speed if you needed it derived from Ferrari race cars.

Taking it’s most basic lines from the classic 250 GTO, it was obviously aggressive, yet beautiful in it. A technological masterpiece, in a beautiful skin. ”It was a fast as it was beautiful.”

1952 Jaguar XK120 = 2nd

1952 Jaguar XK120 = 2nd

1952 Jaguar XK120 = 2nd

It seems an age away from it’s 10 year younger E Type brother, but the XK120 is simply stunning. Jaguar’s first post war sports car, this captured the hearts of many after many years of depressing war. It had a simply look, yet the lines made for a fun drive.

It was, like all the cars in the list, technogically marvelous, he straight six became a solid engine for Jaguar for years to come. The style of the long bonnet and short rear end also did well for Jaguar (see E Type) and this car set them up nicely for 50 years of amazing cars.

1968 Citroen DS 1st

1968 Citroen DS 1st

1958 Citroen DS 1st

Are you a little surprised that a Citroen would be number 1? To those who know cars, it won’t have been as the French makers 50′s classic is regarded as one of the finest cars ever made.

“Impossible to imitate,” Giorgetto Giugiaro

“A few people may have thought of all of these beautiful ideas but it was real bravery to implement them in one car,” Marcello Gandini

“I have always considered the fact this car was first drawn in 1955 to be extraordinary.” Peter Stevens

What more do you need to say? These are some of the most regarded car designers of the last 50 years, and they love the Citroen DS. It seems so do Citroen, as in early 2009, they announced the name DS will be revived for a new range. Let’s hope there as beautiful as the original.

Anyone can start a car restoration business with a physical facility and some tools, but to restore a vehicle correctly is an incredible skill that very few possess in reality. The question at hand is how to determine the true professionals from the pretenders, and how to avoid being burned by poor workmanship or outrageous prices. This can be especially difficult in rural areas where there may not be very many car restoration shops available. In these instances it is well worth a few hours drive to find a reliable car restoration shop in a larger and more competitive metropolitan area.

The best way to find a reliable car restoration shop is to simply ask around your local area – news of good work at a good price travels fast and becomes common knowledge to “car people” in a very short time. Ask your mechanic or car dealership what is the top car restoration shop in the area and check them out for yourself. Contact your local Better Business Bureau to check for customer complaints, look at their website if they have one and try to find and view samples of the cars they have restored. Check with local car clubs or antique car associations to see what type of reputation they have built, and disseminate the information you gather with an objective eye.

A reliable car restoration shop will act like one, plain and simple. A legitimate car restoration shop will gladly answer any questions a customer may have in detail, and will be both open and honest in their assessment of your vehicle and what work needs to be done. A reliable car restoration shop has no problem in giving a detailed written estimate before any work is performed, will stay within the quoted price and complete the project in a timely manner. A car restoration shop that does excellent work is proud of it, and they will be happy to provide a list of past customers and show their ability to get the job done to your satisfaction.

In short, to find a reliable car restoration shop look for ones that are honest, truthful, and established with a long list of satisfied customers and a solid reputation in the community. Try to avoid new car restoration businesses or ones that give limited information concerning prices and processes, as more often than not these are the ones that will present a problem down the road.
